access
i am still figuring out the accessibility basics of this, and as i become more familiar with how this publication works i am always changing accessibility features in this.
i just fixed some default issues on the site:
- external links don't open new windows anymore
- figured out how to add ARIA labels to links that are only visual symbols
- alt text no longer contains the filename
- alt text can be added in markdown!!
i learned a lot about 11ty while doing it, which is what generates this site's HTML from the markdown files. it seemed pretty out of my league at first, but i am getting the hang of it and maybe more features are on the way B-).
there are certainly still issues—i'm finding them left and right but getting better at fixing them.
however, it's nice that a majority of this site is just very basic text, and should theoretically be naturally accessible and readable. theoretically.
